Stereo Wireless Headset for PC/Mac
PC Magazine and Gadgetizer are writing about an attractive set of wireless headphones, the LTB Ario 2.1 Wireless Headphones. They are branded by Listen to Believe, or LTB, a not very well known marketer of headphones (with a pretty lame website), who’ve focused on headphones targeted mostly at gamers up until now. However, I’ve seen their products in Skymall, Sharper Image, New Egg, here and there. They’re not in the tier one retail channels yet, but I’ve played with some of their upcoming products myself, and would not be surprised to see them there soon.
I know the Taiwan-based manufacturer of these headphones pretty well, and they’ve built numerous high quality products for companies like HP, Microsoft, and others… the headband is also built with very high quality construction, feeling maybe not too coincidentally on par with the Bose Quiet Comfort’s headband.
A few pretty sweet things about these headphones…
First, the integration of a microphone back channel. So, that’s uncompressed, CD-quality stereo to the head, and wideband voice back to the PC. Makes them the perfect triple-play PC accessory: multimedia, gaming, and Skype! Awesome.
Second, the USB wireless audio adapter to the PC is also plug & play, which means no drivers. Double awesome. The volume control works in complete synchronization with the PC (or Mac) with seamless USB HID integration. Take these out of the box, plug them in, and you’ll be up and running in less than 30 seconds.
Third, the range is 100 feet. Holy crap! Bluetooth eat your heart out.
I encourage you to monitor Froogle and pick up a set once these puppies hit the market, through whatever retail channel you can identify.
